About

The Fort Myers Review is dedicated to publishing quality unfinished verse to expose ‘poetry in the making’. Our conception of the magazine stems from the late poet Jack Spicer’s monthly magazine Open Space, which published poetry ‘exposed, naked’ at whatever formed or deformed stage when submitted, for 12 months. We aim to promote and circulate work that demonstrates itself to be a product of ‘sublimated libidinal energy,’ not content created for cultural or social currency. We are interested in poems that mean and do rather than poems that express. The FMR aims to showcase Floridian writers at large, and Fort Myers locals in particular, though it is not limited by this objective. We welcome poems that explore the subconscious, mysticism, politics, the absurd, scenery, chaos, desire, and ecology in distinctive ways. To get an idea of the kind of stuff we like check out: this poem, this poem, this poem, or this poem. You can also check our instagram for more stuff we like. >>>
